Have you planned the action?

What’s your thread?

Have you been getting on ok with the exercises you have done so far? Any of them a bit tricky? Tricky normally means you are hitting the right spot, the one that needs the work – the one of most resistance… Don’t freak out, don’t panic, above all don’t give up. Be pleased you have found the ‘thorny’ one as this can peel back layers of doubt, insecurity, confusion and energy-draining emotion. Just take it easy and let it come to you gently. SCOPE is to help you, to let your hidden qualms go free, to give you peace and to re-engage your curiosity, re-light your fire 🙂

Looking back at what you have discovered does anything jump out at you? Have you had any ‘ahha’ moments? What do they relate to most?

Can you see from where some of your doubts and hesitations originate? Are they linked to a particular person, stage of your life, or type of action? Maybe you find it difficult to say no to those in authority, a lot of us do! Maybe it is moving out of your comfort zone and trying something new that gives you the jitters. It could be taking a stand on a belief, going against the ‘accepted’ way of doing something – it could be something as personal as going to a friend’s house and having to politely eat food you think is totally unhealthy but you don’t want to hurt their feelings or as dramatic as leaving a company because you disagree with the way the president speaks to his team – I have done both of those by the way!

What have you discovered as positive that you didn’t expect? Have you found things you really enjoy that you didn’t really think about before? Particularly during your working day? I know focusing on work isn’t always everyone’s choice but we spend such a large part of our life there it really is important that we like (dare I say love?) what we do.

The next step is to quietly think about all the little tweaks you could do to bring more of what you like into your life and remove some of what you don’t…

I’ll give you an example, I started life as a secretary, since then I have run my own businesses, travelled the world, worked in several countries, industries (and languages) and still to this day I love the layout of a letter or a document – one of the first things I learnt as a secretary. So whenever I am getting really annoyed with something at work, I go into a document or to one of my websites and I start tweaking the layout, changing the images (as at Uni I did history of art as well as politics, economics then business management etc). So from that I know that whatever I do remove (probably accounts and business plans – yuk) I want to keep the design part of projects in my life, and working in creative sectors…

When I think back I can see a strong thread running all through my life that links to creative, even from when I was a small child – I started ballet at 3 years old – I redesigned my bedroom into an exotic explorer’s tent with beautiful plants, decorations etc when I was 7 or 8 and so on through life.

Where is your emotion? What is your thread?
